The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter
– Princess Kaguya –
There once was an old man who cut bamboo for a living.
One day, he found a baby girl inside a glowing
bamboo stalk and named her Princess Kaguya.
She quickly grew into a dazzlingly beautiful young woman.
Over time, Princess Kaguya began to cry
whenever she looked up at the moon.
One day, with tears in her eyes, she told the old man,
I must return home on the next full moon.
And so, when the next full moon arrived,
Princess Kaguya was enveloped in a beam of light
and taken back to the moon, draped in a sparkling,
translucent, beautiful robe that erased all
memories of her time on Earth
Kaguyahime returns to the moon
We have created a fountain penbased on the story of Princess Kaguya. The barrel represents the sparkling and transparent robe that the messenger from the moon put on the grieving Princess Kaguya.
The robe had powers to erase the memories of the Princess, who was sad from having to part with her kind grandparents. The barrel is a translucent apricot pink resinwith twinkling gold glitter.
The nib is engraved with a bamboo that is emitting light, and thefinial depicts the full moonthatshe returnedto, expressed in raden. The memories of Princess Kaguya, from being found in a bamboo tree to returning to the moon, are allencapsulated in this pen.
